Plywood Boat Regatta
Youth build them... Youth race them

The plywood Boat Regatta is a fun and exciting two-day Boat Building / Racing event in which our area Youth raise money for Camp Onyahsa, work together to build their boats and then competes against their peers to win exciting prizes!!!

We hope this event will help to instill the importance of teamwork and giving back to our community to each one of our students who participate.

How does it Work:

  • Teams were made up of 4-6 students between the Ages of 10-17 and at least one adult mentor.
  • On Saturday, June 27, 2009, the Teams met at Midway State Park where they began building their boats made entirely of plywood, glue and tie wraps.
  • On Sunday, June 28, 2009, the teams put the finishing touches on their boats.
  • The first heat began at 11:00am. There were three heats and one final heat.
  • Based on the rankings after all the heats were finished, all the teams were placed in one of three final races!
