Frequently Asked Questions for Courtesy Pay Plus+
What is an Overdraft?
An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your account to pay for a check, ATM Withdrawal, ACH, etc. when it's presented, but your Credit Union in good faith pays the item anyway; meaning we didn't return it. We may charge a fee depending on wheather you have funds available on a line of credit or in your shares, or if your account goes negative, but the item isn't returned and you don't have to pay the merchant or vendor a bounce check fee.
What types of Overdfrat Protection are available for Members?
Currently we offer two types (which we highly recommend you utilize):
- Automatic Transfers from a Share Account (a Fee $3 is charged for each transfer)
- Overdraft Line of Credit ~ Members may apply for a line of credit to be attached to their checking account. Limits are available for up to $1000 and there is no fee when a transfer is made to cover an overdraft item.
Within the next week, we will be mailing out the Federally Required Form explaining the extra benefits and Opt-In / Opt-Out instructions for these new programs!
IMPORTANT: If we do not hear from you prior to August 15th, you will be automatically enrolled in our Standard Courtesy Pay Program, meaning we will not authorize and pay overdrafts for your ATM & Debit Card purchases. In order for you to have protection for your Debit Card, you must Opt-In to Courtesy Pay Plus+!
